Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are recruiting on behalf of an industrial specialist that designs and manufactures custom precision tooling for extrusion processes. The position combines tool design, technical support and product development, giving you full ownership of the design cycle from 3D modelling to first production trials.

Key responsibilities

• Full 3D tooling design (CAD) from specifications to workshop trials.
• Participate in sampling and pre‑series phases within the production workshop.
• Control and validate finished tools using high‑precision measuring instruments.
• Design optimized geometric solutions that balance performance and process feasibility.
• Conduct thermal and mechanical simulations to validate design choices.
• Provide structured technical support to commercial teams and guide client projects.
• Interact directly with clients on product‑related technical aspects (phone, Teams, occasional on‑site visits).

Required profile

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, materials science or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in CAD/DAO, preferably in tooling, extrusion, moulding or precision mechanics.
• Proficiency in a 3D modelling software such as SolidWorks, CATIA or Inventor.
• Familiarity with thermal or mechanical simulation tools (Ansys, Comsol) is a plus.
• Metrological rigour and comfort with measuring instruments and tolerance requirements.
• Strong communicator, able to exchange technical information with clients.
• Fluent in Dutch, English and French.
• Hands‑on, autonomous, curious and able to integrate into a close‑knit team.

Required skills

• SolidWorks, CATIA or Inventor (3D CAD).
• Ansys or Comsol (thermal/mechanical simulation).
• Use of high‑precision measuring instruments and tolerance analysis.
