Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Aalst, Belgium. The role involves designing and developing innovative plastic‑electronic products for mass production, with a focus on cost optimisation and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative and aesthetically pleasing products combining plastic and electronic components suited for mass production
• Build and test prototypes using 3D printing
• Design for cost optimisation (VA/VE) and design for assembly
• Create 2D and 3D technical drawings
• Mechanically validate key components and injection‑molded plastics
• Design test fixtures
• Maintain and optimise the current product line
• Conduct environmental testing and validation of prototypes throughout development stages
• Communicate with part suppliers and EMS partners

Required profile

• Master's degree in Product Development, Industrial Design/Engineering or equivalent by experience
• Several years of experience in plastics and injection‑moulding design combined with electronic components
• Strong design creativity and problem‑solving abilities
• Experienced, communicative designer who works independently and precisely
• High attention to quality and detail
• Team player with a hands‑on mentality
• Fluent in English and proficient in Dutch and/or French

Required skills

• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools, preferably PTC Creo
• Graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
• Experience with a Product Lifecycle Management system, e.g., PTC Windchill
• Knowledge of 3D rendering software, e.g., KeyShot
