Malware Research Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Malware Research Engineer to join our fast‑growing security team in Ghent. You will combine hands‑on malware analysis with automation to create scalable detections that protect developers without slowing their workflow.

Key responsibilities

• Research, reverse‑engineer and analyze malware samples using Binary Ninja, dynamic analysis and endpoint telemetry.
• Create, test and maintain YARA, Sigma and behavioral detection rules.
• Translate research findings into detections across files, processes, persistence, memory, identity and network activity.
• Build automation agents that triage samples, extract behavior, propose detections and validate results.
• Design investigation workflows that correlate endpoint events, test hypotheses and reconstruct incidents.
• Develop evaluation loops to measure and improve the quality of agents and detections.
• Contribute to the architecture, research direction and product capabilities of our EDR platform.
• Collaborate closely with engineering to ship new ideas quickly.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience in malware analysis, threat research or detection engineering.
• Proficiency with Binary Ninja or similar reverse‑engineering tools.
• Experience creating and validating YARA, Sigma or comparable detection rules.
• Solid programming and automation skills in a suitable language.
• Deep understanding of executable formats, OS concepts and common attacker techniques.
• Familiarity with endpoint telemetry for detection and investigation.
• Ability to decompose manual research workflows and automate them from first principles.
• Interest in experimenting with AI agents or LLM‑based workflows.
