Logistics Technician – Data Center Operations

About the role

As a Logistics Technician within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will support the day‑to‑day flow of hardware and equipment in data‑center environments. The role provides hands‑on experience with inventory control, warranty processing, and secure handling of data‑bearing devices while contributing to the reliability of Microsoft’s cloud services.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cycle audits and data corrections to maintain accurate inventory records.
• Execute incoming and outgoing deliveries, documenting all inbound and outbound shipments.
• Coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors and ensure compliance with data‑center access policies.
• Initiate warranty claims, process returns, and manage Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) activities in line with Service Level Agreements.
• Package, ship, and receive failed hardware devices, following Microsoft contractual guidelines.
• Reconcile inventory discrepancies and generate reports for senior data‑center staff.
• Develop working knowledge of stock control, inventory management practices, and data‑bearing device destruction procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under guidance from experienced data‑center colleagues.
• Strong attention to detail for accurate documentation of deliveries and inventory movements.
• Effective communication with suppliers and internal teams to coordinate warranty and RMA processes.
• Customer‑focused mindset and adherence to Microsoft’s contractual agreements with vendors.
