Junior General Ledger Accountant

About the role

As a Junior General Ledger Accountant you will support the finance team of Luminus, a leading energy company in Belgium. Working closely with the General Accounting Manager, you will ensure the accuracy, reliability and compliance of the company’s financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, organise and execute daily, monthly and yearly GL activities within the assigned scope.
• Post and review journal entries, accruals, deferrals, pre‑payments and provisions.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, analyse variances and investigate significant movements.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closings, ensuring completeness, compliance and proper documentation.
• Contribute to financial reporting and assist with tax‑related activities such as VAT and corporate tax.
• Participate in ad‑hoc projects and continuous process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of experience in accounting (AR, AP or GL) or a similar role.
• Solid knowledge of Belgian GAAP and a basic understanding of IFRS and taxation.
• Fluent English with good knowledge of Dutch and/or French.
• Analytical, detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
• Clear communication with internal and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting systems, preferably SAP FI/CO.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
