HR Generalist – 1 Year Fixed-Term or Contractor

About the role

Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced HR Generalist for a 12‑month fixed‑term or freelance engagement in Antwerp, Belgium. Reporting to the Europe HR Lead in Ireland, you will act as the primary HR contact for employees and stakeholders, supporting the integration of the transferred CBRE team and driving HR excellence across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead onboarding and deliver engaging new‑hire orientations.
• Provide day‑to‑day employee relations support and liaise with Benelux/Europe HR teams.
• Administer leave and absence in Workday, ensuring alignment with payroll.
• Coordinate monthly payroll cycles with the external provider, validate inputs and resolve corrections.
• Maintain compliance with Belgian labour law and update local policies.
• Support performance review cycles and ensure timely completion.
• Maintain accurate HR records, update databases and communicate changes to payroll.
• Assist health & safety compliance and wellness initiatives.
• Prepare employment documents, manage contracts and support immigration processes.
• Serve as the first point of contact for Workday/HRIS queries.
• Support regional talent acquisition with local recruitment tasks as needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of HR generalist experience.
• Strong knowledge of Belgian employment legislation.
• Hands‑on experience with HR operations across the employee lifecycle.
• Excellent communication skills in English (additional Dutch/French is a plus).
