Generative AI Lead Engineer

About the role

As a Generative AI Lead Engineer you will steer Faktion’s AI engineering initiatives, delivering cutting‑edge multi‑agent and generative AI solutions across several industries. You will mentor a talented team, oversee evaluation‑driven development processes, and ensure that AI products are robust, scalable and aligned with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and enhance NLP and generative/agentic AI models using state‑of‑the‑art frameworks.
• Define proprietary integrations with third‑party solutions to provide best‑in‑class generative AI capabilities.
• Collaborate with the Head of AI, engineers, full‑stack developers and product managers to set clear project requirements.
• Conduct proactive research to stay at the forefront of NLP and generative AI advancements.
• Optimize and scale AI systems for performance, efficiency and reliability.
• Oversee MLOps pipelines covering data preprocessing, model training, fine‑tuning, evaluation, deployment and monitoring.
• Build and manage containerised AI back‑end services with Docker and FastAPI.
• Maintain high‑quality documentation and enforce best practices within the engineering team.

Required profile

• Native‑level Dutch and English communication skills (French a plus).
• Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Computer Science, NLP, AI or related field.
• 5+ years of experience implementing NLP and generative AI models, with deep expertise in transformer architectures.
• Proven leadership in AI/ML projects, including team mentoring and project management.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Machine‑learning libraries: PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers.
• Typescript (optional).
• Docker and FastAPI for containerised services.
• Azure cloud services for scalable AI solutions.
• MLOps pipeline development.
