General Ledger Accountant

About the role

The General Ledger (GL) accountant ensures accurate accounting information and reporting, mainly in the areas of inventory and intercompany. The role gathers and verifies the accuracy of financial data, reconciles accounts and applies strong controls in line with the company's SOX and internal control framework. It is based in Zaventem, with 3 days per week working from home.

Key responsibilities

• Reconcile accounts with the general ledger.
• Carry out month- and quarter-end closing, including account analysis to check entries and balances.
• Analyse and interpret financial information so it meets professional and regulatory standards.
• Enter accruals, deferrals and reclassifications into the ledger and prepare reports.
• Gather supporting documentation and maintain records.
• Ensure internal and SOX controls are followed in a timely way.
• Assist in preparing audit files, annual accounts, surveys and tax declarations and forms.

Required profile

• University or bachelor's degree in finance or a related field preferred.
• Fluent written and spoken English, Dutch and French.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication and customer orientation.

Required skills

• Strong general accounting skills (statutory and international standards).
• SAP or PeopleSoft knowledge is a strong plus.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Strong quantitative and analytical ability.
