General Engineer – MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing)

About the role

The General Engineer – MEP will lead the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing engineering activities for the new SHAPE Static Command Facilities. You will ensure that building systems are integrated, safe, reliable and meet NATO standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate MEP requirements, monitoring delivery to guarantee facilities are fit for purpose at hand‑over.
• Liaise with the Host Nation to secure technical acceptability, fair procurement values and compliance testing.
• Review execution documents (technical data sheets, calculations, drawings, construction details) for alignment with user requirements and best practice.
• Maintain audit logs of non‑compliance, support quality inspections and provide evidence for risk and issue registers.
• Report engineering changes, assess schedule impacts and communicate with the Engineer Requirements and Acceptance Manager and Programme Integration Manager.
• Coordinate O&M topics with SHAPE management and external stakeholders, and support knowledge‑transfer training with the Host Nation.
• Generate performance and compliance metrics, stay updated on emerging technologies and recommend adoption.

Required profile

• Professional engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Plumbing disciplines.
• Proven experience managing MEP projects in large, complex facilities.
• Strong understanding of NATO or similar defence procurement and compliance processes.
• Excellent analytical, documentation and reporting skills.
