Full-time Academic Position in Biochemistry (Tenure-Track)

About the role

The University of Mons seeks a full‑time academic staff member in biochemistry to lead a new experimental laboratory. The appointment starts no earlier than 1 February 2027 on a three‑year fixed‑term contract, with the possibility of renewal and eventual permanent status.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate and master courses in general biochemistry, metabolic biochemistry, structural proteomics, macromolecular biochemistry and related subjects.
• Develop and coordinate new master‑level courses in English on biocatalysis or enzymology.
• Establish and manage a research laboratory focused on fundamental and applied biocatalysis, including enzyme engineering and continuous‑flow processes.
• Secure and coordinate European research collaborations (Horizon Europe, MSCA, etc.) and supervise PhD and master theses.
• Contribute to departmental service, curriculum development and university outreach.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, enzymology or a closely related field.
• Proven international research record with high‑impact publications in biocatalysis or related areas.
• Strong integration in the international scientific community, including participation in networks and European programmes (Marie Skłodowska‑Curie, ERC, etc.).
• Experience in establishing and leading research groups is highly desirable.
