Front-End Engineer - Space sector

About the role

We are seeking a UX/UI‑oriented Front‑End Engineer to join the Space Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, part of the European Space Agency, in Redu, Belgium. You will work closely with developers, product owners, users, and domain experts to design, prototype, implement, and continuously improve application interfaces that support cyber‑resilience across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement clear, usable, and maintainable front‑end views and components.
• Translate complex workflows, user needs, and domain concepts into structured application interfaces.
• Develop applications using Angular and/or React with TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern front‑end practices.
• Create wireframes, mockups, or prototypes to explore and validate interface concepts.
• Collaborate with back‑end and system developers to ensure alignment with APIs, data structures, and technical constraints.

Required profile

• 4‑5 years of experience in front‑end development, UI implementation, or UX/UI development.
• Eligibility for EU security clearance.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Solution‑oriented and customer‑focused mindset.

Required skills

• Practical experience with Angular and/or React.
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and browser fundamentals.
• Understanding of component‑based front‑end development and maintainable view structures.
