Freelance Steel Plant Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Freelance Steel Plant Technician to support steel manufacturing operations in Belgium and Northern France. The role involves applying industrial products, operating equipment, performing preventive maintenance, managing stock, and ensuring safety compliance on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Apply industrial products and materials using dedicated equipment.
• Operate and monitor all assigned machinery safely and efficiently.
• Maintain high housekeeping and cleanliness standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot operational issues to keep equipment reliable.
• Support spare‑parts inventory and stock replenishment.
• Maintain accurate operational, maintenance and invoicing records.
• Assist in onboarding and training new employees.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives such as Lean, 5S and TPM.
• Maintain professional relationships with on‑site customers and ensure high satisfaction.

Required profile

• Previous experience in industrial services, steel manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Background in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Good organisational and problem‑solving skills.
• Physical fitness to work in an industrial environment.
• Fluency in French and Dutch; English is a plus.
