Freelance Senior Workplace Specialist

About the role

We are looking for a freelance Senior Workplace Specialist to maintain and optimise our digital workplace environment. The role combines system administration, cloud services, and collaboration‑tool management to ensure seamless IT operations for end‑users across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Administer Windows Server (2019‑2022) and Linux systems, including patch management and performance monitoring.
• Manage Active Directory – domain controllers, GPOs, OUs, LDAP groups, user and access provisioning.
• Support network services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and VPN, and apply basic cybersecurity measures.
• Develop and run PowerShell and Bash scripts for automation and routine tasks.
• Maintain virtualised environments (VMware, optional Hyper‑V) and application servers (WebLogic, Tomcat).
• Perform basic SQL database handling and backup/disaster‑recovery procedures.
• Administer Microsoft 365 services – SharePoint Online, Teams, permissions governance and user training.
• Manage AWS resources (Workspaces, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, MFA) and track cost and billing.
• Handle service requests via ServiceNow, oversee workplace tools (OMS), and ensure software licence compliance.
• Participate in governance meetings for M365, AWS, and IT service management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Windows and Linux system administration.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, identity management and network protocols.
• Hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365 administration and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Ability to script in PowerShell and Bash for automation.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and capacity to work independently as a freelancer.
