Freelance Project Lead – High-Voltage Cables

About the role

We are seeking a Freelance Project Lead to drive large‑scale high‑voltage cable infrastructure projects for a leading Belgian energy company. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from definition and technical studies through execution and administrative closure, within a strategic and innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate end‑to‑end project activities, including definition, technical studies, engineering design, execution and closure.
• Provide technical engineering support, perform calculations and analyses, and guide decision‑making for cable infrastructure.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, timelines and resource plans, ensuring alignment with technical constraints and stakeholder expectations.
• Prepare tender documentation, participate in procurement processes and liaise with suppliers and contractors.
• Lead on‑site coordination, collaborating with internal engineering teams, contractors, suppliers and customers to ensure quality and schedule compliance.
• Report progress, maintain effective communication with all stakeholders and support coordination between technical and operational teams.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong technical affinity for high‑voltage cable and infrastructure projects.
• Excellent organisational, coordination and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Customer‑oriented mindset with assertive communication skills.
• Fluent Dutch (native level); professional English is a plus.
