Freelance Data Engineer (Snowflake) – Long‑term, Brussels

About the role

We are looking for an experienced freelance Data Engineer with deep Snowflake expertise to join a major data transformation programme for a leading organisation in Brussels. The role is long‑term, hybrid and focuses on building a modern cloud‑based data platform that powers critical analytics and data‑driven initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines in a Snowflake environment.
• Create and optimise ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform and deliver data from diverse sources.
• Collaborate with Data Architects, Analysts and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality data solutions.
• Monitor and improve data quality, integrity and performance across the platform.
• Optimise Snowflake storage, compute and cost efficiency.
• Support data modelling for reporting, analytics and advanced use cases.
• Contribute to best‑practice guidelines around data engineering, automation and cloud technologies.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer in enterprise‑scale environments.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Snowflake and advanced SQL.
• Solid programming skills in Python or similar languages.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Ability to design and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Excellent problem‑solving and stakeholder communication abilities.
