Freelance AML Quality Assurance Specialist (2nd Line)

About the role

We are seeking a Freelance AML Quality Assurance Specialist to operate in the second line of defence. You will independently assess the quality and effectiveness of AML processes, ensuring that customer files, monitoring activities and AML decisions meet internal standards and regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform quality assurance reviews on AML/KYC files and client onboarding decisions.
• Assess the quality of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) activities.
• Review risk assessments, customer classifications and supporting documentation.
• Identify gaps, inconsistencies and regulatory risks and provide actionable recommendations.
• Monitor adherence to internal AML policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Draft quality review reports and present findings to Compliance, AML teams and senior management.
• Support continuous improvement of AML processes, controls and governance frameworks.
• Contribute to thematic reviews, remediation programmes and regulatory readiness initiatives.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in AML, KYC, Compliance or Financial Crime functions.
• Proven experience in a second‑line control, QA or compliance monitoring role.
• Strong knowledge of CDD, EDD, transaction monitoring and AML regulations.
• Ability to independently analyse files, challenge decisions and formulate pragmatic recommendations.
• Fluent in Dutch, French and English.
