About the role
The Fleet Manager will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a fleet of vessels, overseeing day‑to‑day performance, maintenance, compliance and budget management. The role acts as the primary liaison between vessel managers, owners and internal departments to ensure all regulatory and operational standards are met.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure vessel compliance with company, SMS, international and local regulations.
- Monitor vessel performance, provide technical guidance and verify Planned Maintenance System (PMS) activities.
- Supervise vessel managers in arranging surveys, dry‑dockings, repairs and audits.
- Communicate daily operational issues and escalate critical matters to senior management.
- Verify timely vessel inspections, audit follow‑ups and submit reports to owners.
- Oversee planned maintenance execution and major repairs.
- Ensure adherence to ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL and other maritime safety standards.
- Develop and monitor environmental objectives in line with the company’s EMS.
- Finalize and manage operational budgets, monitor fuel consumption and implement cost‑saving measures.
- Coordinate with crewing department for manning requirements and act as primary technical contact for owners.
- Perform duties of Designated Person Ashore (DPA).
Required profile
- Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (COC) Class 1.
- Minimum 10 years sailing experience, including at least 2 years on DP vessels.
- Minimum 8 years shore‑based experience in vessel management.
- Proven leadership with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
- Experience in offshore fleet operations, preferably as DPO, DPVM or DP company authority.
