Financial Controller – Accounting & Analysis

About the role

We are looking for an experienced accountant to step into a Financial Controller position within an international company that provides environmental testing, laboratory services and sustainability solutions. Based in Ghent, you will work closely with the Finance Manager and various group stakeholders to oversee the finance and accounting functions of several Belgian entities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounting activities for multiple Belgian entities, ensuring accurate bookkeeping and compliance with Belgian GAAP.
• Take ownership of monthly, quarterly and annual closing processes.
• Prepare and review financial reporting, statutory accounts and support VAT and tax processes.
• Coordinate audit preparation and act as liaison with external auditors.
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, translating results into actionable insights.
• Support integration of new entities and harmonisation of finance processes.
• Identify and implement process improvements to professionalise the finance function.

Required profile

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong analytical, accurate and hands‑on approach with a sense of ownership.
• Proactive attitude and comfortable working in a changing, growing environment.
• Fluent in Dutch and good command of English; basic French is a plus.
• Based in or around the Ghent region.
