Finance Business Partner (Freelance, 6‑month contract)

About the role

The Freelance Finance Business Partner will support the IT & Digital division of a leading biotechnology company. Acting as a trusted advisor, you will guide budgeting, forecasting, investment planning and financial performance to ensure technology initiatives align with overall business priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with IT & Digital leadership to provide financial insights, analysis and strategic recommendations.
• Lead the budgeting cycle, support rolling forecasts, scenario planning and variance analysis.
• Analyse technology spend, identify cost‑optimisation opportunities and assess value‑for‑money of digital investments.
• Support business cases, ROI modelling and financial assessments for digital transformation projects, software purchases and infrastructure upgrades.
• Collaborate with procurement, project managers, product owners and senior finance stakeholders to ensure alignment and transparency.
• Deliver clear reporting on IT & Digital performance, KPIs and spend trends.
• Maintain compliance with internal controls, approval processes and audit requirements.
• Challenge assumptions, guide prioritisation and influence decision‑making across the organisation.

Required profile

• Proven finance business partnering experience, preferably supporting IT, Digital or Technology functions.
• Experience in biotech, life‑sciences or related sectors is a strong advantage.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial data into strategic insights.
• Comfortable partnering with senior leaders and constructively challenging decisions.
• Ability to deliver impact quickly in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Experience with ERP or other financial systems.
