Energy Sector Consultants – Python Developer & Business Analyst

About the role

MERITIS is expanding its Brussels team and seeks two experienced professionals for the energy sector: a Senior Python Developer focused on real‑time trading systems and a Business Analyst specialized in electricity market operations and TSO integration. Both positions are hybrid, based in Brussels, and require prior experience in the energy industry.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance Python applications for real‑time data processing and trading support.
• Build and optimise position‑management models for day‑ahead and intraday markets.
• Manage PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, performance tuning, and time‑series handling.
• Deploy services on AWS (RDS, S3, IAM, ECS, Docker) and implement streaming data pipelines.
• Collaborate with traders, data engineers, and data scientists in an Agile environment.
• Analyse European electricity markets, TSO mechanisms, and regulatory developments.
• Serve as liaison between business stakeholders, market operators, and IT architects for TSO access, balancing, and redispatch.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of Python development experience, preferably with multi‑threaded, performance‑critical applications.
• Strong expertise in PostgreSQL and AWS services.
• Solid understanding of energy trading concepts and European electricity market operations.
• Experience working in Agile, cross‑functional teams.
