Electrical Networks Technician

About the role

As an Electrical Networks Technician at SHAPE, you will be responsible for the operation, monitoring and maintenance of high‑voltage, low‑voltage and emergency electrical networks that power critical NATO installations in Mons, Belgium.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the full‑time electrician and any temporary staff assigned to the power plant.
• Install and service specialized electrical panels, circuit breakers and switchgear for both LV and HV systems.
• Monitor and record voltage, current, power factor and other parameters at all SHAPE substations, detecting anomalies and restoring service.
• Connect and test high‑ and low‑voltage cables, perform transformer inspections and maintain battery chargers.
• Implement safety programmes, isolate faults, and ensure continuous operation of essential facilities.
• Detect buried cables before new construction, troubleshoot UPS systems and replace defective TECO meters.
• Ensure all installations comply with current regulations and maintain the datagyr billing system.
• Provide 24/7 duty officer support via smartphone to guarantee uninterrupted service.

Required profile

• BAC‑ETS diploma or equivalent in low‑voltage/high‑voltage electricity.
• Proven experience supervising electricians and working on HV/LV networks.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of NATO or similar high‑security environments is a plus.
