Educational Support Assistant / Nursery Assistant (Part‑time)

About the role

The European School Brussels I is seeking part‑time Educational Support Assistants and/or Nursery Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs across its Greek, English, Italian and Latvian language sections. The role combines health‑care assistance, personalised learning support and inclusive classroom participation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct physical care – mobility, toileting, feeding and medical procedures – and monitor pupils’ health and safety throughout the school day and during outings.
• Deliver personalised educational support in class, small groups or one‑to‑one, using differentiated teaching methods and assistive technologies.
• Assist teachers in preparing and implementing Individual Learning Plans and promote positive peer interactions.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, parents and school staff to develop and follow individualised care plans.
• Maintain accurate records of care provided, health incidents and equipment usage.

Required profile

• Experience or training in supporting children with special educational needs or in a nursery setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, healthcare staff and families.
• Good communication skills in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying pupil numbers and needs.
