Educational Support Assistant / Nursery Assistant (Part‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The European School Brussels I seeks a part‑time Educational Support Assistant and/or Nursery Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs across its Uccle and Berkendael sites. This fixed‑term position combines nursing care, personalised pedagogical assistance and close collaboration with teachers and health professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct physical care – mobility assistance, toileting, feeding and medical procedures as required.
• Monitor pupils’ health and well‑being throughout the school day and during off‑site activities.
• Deliver personalised educational support in class, small groups or one‑to‑one, using assistive technologies and Individual Learning Plans.
• Promote inclusion by encouraging positive peer interactions and supporting social‑emotional development.
• Maintain accurate care records, manage medical or mobility equipment, and participate in multidisciplinary meetings.

Required profile

• Experience or training in school‑based nursing or special‑needs support.
• Ability to work flexibly according to pupil numbers and needs.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with teachers, parents and health professionals.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, safe and supportive learning environment.
