Educational Support Assistant / Nursery Assistant (Part‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The European School Brussels I is seeking an Educational Support Assistant and/or Nursery Assistant on a part‑time, fixed‑term basis. The role supports pupils with special educational needs, ensuring their health, safety, inclusion and academic progress across the Uccle and Berkendael sites. The school serves over 4,250 pupils from 60 nationalities and offers instruction in multiple language sections (Greek, English, Italian, Latvian), requiring assistants to work in a multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct physical care, including assistance with mobility, toileting, feeding and medical procedures.
• Monitor pupils’ health and well‑being throughout the school day and during extracurricular activities.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, parents and staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Maintain accurate records of care provided and any health‑related incidents.
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of medical or mobility equipment.
• Deliver personalised educational support in class, small groups or one‑to‑one settings.
• Assist teachers in designing and using differentiated teaching materials and assistive technologies.
• Promote social and emotional development through caring activities and positive behaviour strategies.
• Support integration of pupils into regular school activities and encourage peer support.
• Document pupil progress, share observations with teachers and participate in monitoring meetings to adjust intervention plans.
