Educational Support Assistant / Nursery Assistant (Part‑time, Fixed‑term)

About the role

The European School Brussels I – Uccle and Berkendael site is looking for a part‑time Educational Support Assistant and/or Nursery Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs across Greek, English, Italian and Latvian language sections. The role combines nursing care, personalised pedagogical support and close collaboration with teachers and health professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct physical care (mobility assistance, toileting, feeding, medical procedures) and monitor pupils' health and well‑being throughout the school day.
• Develop and follow individualised care plans in partnership with healthcare professionals, parents and school staff.
• Deliver personalised educational support in class, small groups or one‑to‑one settings, using differentiated teaching methods and assistive technologies.
• Assist in preparing and implementing Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and track pupils' progress.
• Promote inclusion, positive peer interactions and social‑emotional development through caring activities.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to adjust intervention plans and ensure consistent support.

Required profile

• Experience or training in supporting children with special educational needs.
• Ability to provide basic nursing care and health monitoring in a school environment.
• Strong collaboration skills to work with teachers, healthcare professionals and families.
• Commitment to inclusive education and pupil well‑being.
