Director, Regulatory Affairs – Privacy Defense

About the role

Google is seeking a senior leader to head its EMEA Privacy Defence team. The role will guide the company through complex data‑protection challenges, working closely with legal, product, engineering and public‑policy teams across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a regional privacy team addressing high‑risk data‑protection litigation, regulatory investigations and enforcement actions.
• Engage directly with EU Data Protection Authorities and other global regulators.
• Develop and implement proactive strategies to mitigate privacy risks for Google’s products, services and people.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, security and privacy advisory teams to translate technical issues into legal solutions.
• Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on emerging privacy regulations and cultural sensitivities across EMEA.

Required profile

• JD or equivalent degree with at least 15 years of experience managing litigation, regulatory investigations and enforcement actions in a global or regulated environment.
• Experience leading regional teams and managing other managers.
• Admission to practice law in the UK or EU and in good standing.
• Proven track record of engaging with EU Data Protection Authorities or comparable regulators.
