Design & Project Engineer – Heat Exchangers

About the role

Atlas Copco Group is looking for a Design & Project Engineer specialized in heat exchangers to join its Airtec product development team in Wilrijk. You will help accelerate the design and validation of sustainable cooler solutions, working in a fast‑paced, international environment.

Key responsibilities

• Translate complex thermal requirements into practical cooler concepts.
• Size, evaluate and optimise heat exchangers using in‑house calculation and sizing tools.
• Drive rapid design loops, coordinate prototypes and perform hands‑on checks in the workshop.
• Document technical data, drawings, specifications, bills of material and lessons learned.
• Communicate risks early and support agile decision‑making with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in mechanical or thermodynamic engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong interest in heat transfer, pressure drop and flow calculations.
• Professional English communication skills.
• Entrepreneurial, agile mindset with a focus on short feedback loops.
• Experience with product development, prototypes, heat exchangers or thermal systems is a plus.
