Design Engineer – Product Development

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Product Development Leader and guided by the Chief Engineer, you will design and develop new products for Thule's RV line, including awnings, bike carriers, steps, and tents/panels. You will take concepts from idea to industrialisation while ensuring they meet Thule's quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Create and refine 3D designs and technical drawings for robust, production‑ready solutions.
• Translate concepts into detailed designs, balancing functionality, manufacturability, cost and quality.
• Support prototyping, testing and validation activities and implement improvements based on results.
• Contribute to all stage‑gate deliverables within the Thule Project System.
• Act as the technical liaison for suppliers, ensuring design feasibility.
• Maintain accurate product data in the PLM system and provide technical support to internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electromechanics, Product Development or equivalent).
• 2–8 years of experience in product development.
• Hands‑on, detail‑oriented mindset with ownership of designs.
• Fluent in Dutch and English; French or German a plus.

Required skills

• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred).
• Proficiency in creating technical drawings.
• Good understanding of materials, production processes and design for manufacturing.
• Experience using PLM systems.
