Deputy Head – Workspace Management & Business Continuity

About the role

The Deputy Head of Workspace Management and Business Continuity (WMBC) supports NATO Headquarters in delivering a resilient, future‑ready environment. Reporting to the Head of WMBC, the incumbent translates strategic objectives into concrete delivery, ensures critical projects are executed on time and budget, and acts as Head in their absence.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain an integrated overview of WMBC’s portfolio, consolidating milestones, dependencies, risks and delivery status.
• Establish and enforce governance controls such as business cases, stage‑gate reviews, change control, RAID logs and assurance processes.
• Manage resources across multiple projects, identify delivery risks and propose mitigation solutions.
• Plan and deploy surge capacity for high‑priority projects while safeguarding daily HQ operations.
• Prepare decision packages, monitor budget adherence and ensure compliance with NATO regulations and standards.

Required profile

• University degree in Architecture, Engineering (civil/structural/mechanical/electrical) or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a management role.
• Proven experience delivering multi‑year programmes in complex operational environments.
• Project‑ and programme‑management certification (e.g., PMP, Prince2, MSP).
• Advanced proficiency in one NATO official language (English or French) and intermediate proficiency in the other.
