Data Engineer

About the role

Sortlist is building a modern, model‑driven data foundation to support self‑service analytics and AI‑assisted workflows. As a Data Engineer you will join a small, experienced data team and partner with Product, Finance, Growth, and Engineering to make data trusted, shared, and genuinely useful.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve analytical data models that stay stable as the product and business evolve.
• Transform vague business questions into clear, well‑defined metrics.
• Make critical numbers easy to find, understand, and trust for financial performance, investment decisions, and product trade‑offs.
• Build and document scalable data models that enable reliable self‑service and AI‑assisted analytics.
• Contribute to modernising analytics tooling, help select and configure tools, and ensure AI workflows rely on strong data models.

Required profile

• Strong focus on durability and rigour; models must be testable, documented, and resilient to change.
• Ability to adapt data approaches to real decision‑making processes.
• Clear communicator with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Partner‑oriented mindset: co‑design metrics rather than merely taking requirements.
• Critical thinker who can evaluate trade‑offs and improve judgment over time.
