Data Engineer (Databricks) – Freelance, Long‑term, Brussels

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with strong Databricks expertise to join a long‑term transformation programme for a leading organisation in Brussels. The role is freelance, hybrid and focuses on building and optimising modern, cloud‑based data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks.
• Build and optimise ETL/ELT processes for large, complex datasets.
• Collaborate with Data Architects, Data Analysts and business stakeholders to deliver end‑to‑end data solutions.
• Develop and maintain data models supporting reporting, analytics and AI initiatives.
• Ensure data quality, reliability and performance across the platform.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data‑engineering best practices and standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Data Engineer in enterprise environments.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Databricks.
• Excellent knowledge of SQL and Python.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
• Ability to work effectively within cross‑functional teams.
