Cybersecurity Engineer – Automation & Vulnerability Management

About the role

The role focuses on designing, automating and managing security operations across on‑premises and cloud environments. You will develop scripts, harden servers, and coordinate vulnerability remediation to protect critical assets.

Key responsibilities

• Create custom internal scripts (Python, Bash) for task automation, data analysis and API integration with security platforms.
• Deploy, manage and harden Linux, Windows and VMware ESXi servers.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls and VPN gateways.
• Produce vulnerability assessment reports, remediation plans, dashboards and operational procedures.
• Manage the full vulnerability lifecycle: identification, assessment, prioritisation, remediation tracking and verification.
• Coordinate remediation efforts across IT, development, cloud operations, SOC and compliance teams.
• Report on security metrics, high‑risk assets, ticket trends and KPIs to stakeholders.
• Design and deploy infrastructure to improve availability, scalability and efficiency of threat‑management services.
• Document solutions for engineers and end‑users and automate responses to non‑exceptional service conditions.

Required profile

• Minimum education Level 5 EQF (2 years post‑secondary) for junior/confirmed levels or Level 6 EQF (Bachelor’s degree) for senior level.
• Strong experience in OS administration (Linux, Windows, VMware ESXi).
• Proven ability to work with multiple teams and external vendors to ensure timely remediation.
