Controls Technician – Data Center Automation

About the role

As a Controls Technician you will ensure the 24/7 reliability of Google’s data‑center infrastructure in Belgium. You will manage PLCs, SCADA interfaces, and critical alarm logic that control power and cooling systems, providing high‑level technical support and leading the commissioning of new control equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair PLCs, SCADA systems, servers, network equipment, and access‑control hardware.
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, ladder logic, and sequence‑of‑operations documents to troubleshoot control anomalies.
• Conduct tours of systems, assess performance, and lead integration of new automation equipment.
• Investigate alarms, perform calibration and diagnostic testing on meters, sensors, and relays.
• Support on‑call rotations covering nights, weekends, and holidays.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree, trade‑school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing, operating, or troubleshooting industrial control systems (PLC/SCADA).
• Ability to work non‑standard hours and shift rotations.
• Fluent French for daily operations and communication.

Required skills

• Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming and ladder‑logic interpretation.
• Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) management.
• Knowledge of meters, sensors, relays, digital metering, and calibration equipment.
• Networking fundamentals and ability to read/write basic programming code.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or equivalent system‑administration certifications (preferred).
