Consultant – MES & Digital Transformation

About the role

As a Consultant – MES & Digital Transformation you will act as the bridge between operations, automation and manufacturing IT. You will work directly with clients to analyse their processes and design MES‑based solutions that deliver measurable value on the shop floor.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse manufacturing processes and operational workflows to identify improvement opportunities supported by MES functionality.
• Collaborate with production, quality, engineering and IT teams to translate requirements into MES concepts such as tracking & tracing, work instructions, quality controls, OEE, scheduling, etc.
• Design functional specifications, process maps, data flows and integration points with automation and ERP systems.
• Support MES implementation projects with configuration, functional testing, validation and deployment alongside multidisciplinary AG Solution teams.
• Facilitate workshops to align stakeholders, gather needs and explain MES capabilities in clear language.
• Guide clients on digital transformation roadmaps, highlighting impacts on people, processes and value creation.
• Train end‑users and monitor KPIs (quality, throughput, efficiency, downtime, compliance) to demonstrate impact and refine solutions.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, preferably in pharma, food, chemicals, consumer goods or discrete manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret data flows between MES, automation (PLC/SCADA) and higher‑level systems such as ERP or LIMS.
• Solid functional and technical mindset, capable of bridging business needs with system behaviour.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to translate technical concepts for operators, engineers and managers.
• Enthusiasm for digital transformation and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Experience with MES platforms such as Siemens Opcenter, Werum PAS‑X, Rockwell FTPC, Ignition or Aveva.
• Knowledge of PLC/SCADA systems and integration with ERP/LIMS.
• Understanding of industrial IT/OT principles, including networks, databases and basic security.
