Communications Officer

About the role

The Communications Officer will design and execute communications campaigns that highlight transport decarbonisation and the energy transition. You will work closely with policy teams to translate research into compelling narratives and seize media opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage media relations with EU affairs outlets, newswires and Brussels‑based correspondents.
• Pitch stories, arrange interviews and draft press releases, op‑eds and other media materials.
• Develop creative content, engagement ideas and visual communications such as videos.
• Identify and develop campaign, outreach and policy communication opportunities.
• Collaborate with policy colleagues to shape research‑driven communication strategies.
• Monitor media and policy discussions to spot story angles and external opportunities.
• Coordinate external agencies, organise events, briefings and webinars with stakeholders, researchers and NGOs.

Required profile

• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to spot and act on communication opportunities.
• Strong understanding of transport decarbonisation, energy transition and EU policy environments.
• Proven experience in media relations, press‑release writing and campaign development.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Media relations and public‑relations expertise.
• Content creation for print, broadcast and online platforms.
• Experience managing external agencies and organising stakeholder events.
