Chief Architect – Banking Technology Strategy & Enterprise Architecture

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Chief Architect to lead the enterprise architecture vision for a large‑scale, highly regulated banking environment operating across the Netherlands and Belgium. In this strategic role you will shape the target architecture, drive digital transformation and ensure alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive the target enterprise architecture for a multi‑country banking operation.
• Translate business strategy into clear architectural roadmaps.
• Lead transformation, simplification and technical debt reduction initiatives.
• Govern cloud, platform, integration and security architecture.
• Align architecture across domains, tribes and business units.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing architecture community.
• Support executive decision‑making on technology strategy and investments.

Required profile

• Extensive experience as an Enterprise Architect or Chief/Lead Architect.
• Strong background in large‑scale banking or other highly regulated environments.
• Proven leadership within complex matrix organisations.
• Deep understanding of enterprise architecture, cloud, integration, infrastructure and security.
• Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
