Campaign Assistant

About the role

Oceana is looking for a motivated Campaign Assistant to join its European campaign team. Based in one of our offices in Brussels, Madrid or Copenhagen, you will support the Head of Campaigns and senior colleagues in delivering effective marine‑conservation initiatives across Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparing, and following up on campaign activities to ensure smooth coordination across teams.
• Track milestones, deadlines and key developments relevant to campaign priorities.
• Conduct desk research and help draft briefings, background notes and policy summaries on fisheries, marine protection and related topics.
• Collaborate with the Communications team to develop and coordinate outreach materials, and monitor news, policy updates and social‑media trends.
• Support the organisation of events, meetings and advocacy actions, including preparation of materials and documentation of outcomes.
• Provide administrative support such as scheduling, document management and record‑keeping.

Required profile

• Degree in environmental studies, political science, international relations, marine science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Early‑career experience or internships in EU advocacy, policy research, communications or similar roles.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while seeking guidance when needed.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and capacity to manage multiple tasks.

Required skills

• Proficiency in English (written and spoken) – a must.
• Fluency in another European language (e.g., French or Spanish) is an advantage.
