CAD / PLM Design Engineer – Automotive Powertrain (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking a CAD / PLM Design Engineer to support the development of automotive powertrain components on a contract basis. The role is hybrid, allowing you to work both from home and our UK facilities while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Create and update 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA or NX, adhering to manufacturing and GD&T standards.
• Manage engineering drawings, revisions, and part numbering within PLM systems such as Windchill or Teamcenter.
• Process ECN/ECA workflows and implement design changes across components like gears, sensors, and housings.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and project management teams to resolve design and production issues.
• Maintain technical documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
• Support prototype builds, sample releases, and design‑for‑assembly activities.

Required profile

• Strong CAD experience with CATIA V5/V6 or NX.
• Hands‑on experience with PLM systems (Windchill, Teamcenter).
• Solid understanding of ECN/ECA change management processes.
• Knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced engineering environment.
• Nice‑to‑have experience with automotive or powertrain components, exposure to electrification projects (MHEV/PHEV), and supplier collaboration.
