Backend Engineer – Technology Department

About the role

Gaming1 is seeking a Backend Engineer to join its product engineering team in Liège. You will design, build and evolve backend solutions that power high‑traffic, regulated gaming experiences while ensuring reliability, compliance and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Own backend solutions across their full lifecycle – from design and implementation to release, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Front‑end Engineers and other stakeholders to deliver user‑centric features.
• Develop and maintain APIs, data models and event‑driven services using .NET (C#) and technologies such as RabbitMQ or NServiceBus.
• Ensure system resilience, performance and operability in a production environment, including PostgreSQL databases and AWS services.
• Contribute to improving engineering practices, tooling and ways of working within a small, autonomous team.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Backend Engineer in product‑oriented, preferably regulated or large‑scale environments.
• Strong fundamentals in API design, data modeling, testing, performance optimisation and operational monitoring.
• Hands‑on expertise with .NET (C#) and event‑driven architectures.
• Solid experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, in production settings.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and services such as S3.
