Backend Engineer (Data) – NATO Secret Clearance

About the role

We are looking for a Backend Engineer specialized in data to join our team in Braine‑l’Alleud, Belgium. The role focuses on building and maintaining data‑driven backend services, supporting analytics and reporting for internal stakeholders. The position requires a security clearance at NATO Secret level or equivalent.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise backend components that process and store large datasets.
• Collaborate with data analysts and scientists to implement data pipelines and APIs.
• Create and maintain dashboards and visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Grafana or R Shiny.
• Write efficient SQL queries and manage relational databases, primarily SQL Server.
• Monitor user‑experience KPIs and generate regular performance reports.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Data Analyst, Data Scientist or in a comparable data‑focused role.
• Ability to work with at least one programming language (Python, R or C#).
• Experience with data visualisation platforms and reporting tools.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts.
• Eligibility for NATO Secret clearance or an equivalent security level.
