Backend Developer

About the role

GNA Energy is seeking a Backend Developer to design, build and maintain server‑side components of its AI‑powered green energy platform. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to deliver scalable, secure APIs and data services that enable clients to optimise their power portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and implement efficient, scalable RESTful APIs in collaboration with the frontend team.
• Design, optimise and manage database schemas for high performance (MongoDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Implement security and data‑protection measures in backend systems.
• Debug, troubleshoot and resolve issues in production and development environments.
• Write clean, well‑documented code and perform code reviews.
• Participate in agile ceremonies and gather requirements for new features.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 2‑3 years of experience as a Backend Developer, preferably in a product team.
• Team player with a proactive attitude.

Required skills

• Java and Spring Boot.
• RESTful API design and implementation.
• SQL and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Cloud and DevOps tools: AWS, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Kibana, logging tools.
• Basic knowledge of frontend technologies (ReactJS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, CloudFront, AWS Load Balancer) – a plus.
• Familiarity with big‑data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark – a plus.
