Automation Test Engineer – Railway Sector

About the role

Médiane Benelux is seeking a Test Automation Engineer for a long‑term mission in the railway sector. You will be responsible for validating complex software systems, including embedded and backend applications, to ensure reliability, performance and compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement automated test strategies aligned with project and business requirements.
• Design, develop and maintain scalable test automation frameworks, primarily using Python.
• Create and maintain automated test scripts for API, backend and system validation.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD or equivalent) and support continuous testing.
• Execute non‑regression, performance and reliability testing on integrated hardware‑software environments.
• Collaborate with developers and system engineers to identify defects early and provide actionable feedback.
• Optimize test processes, promote shift‑left testing and contribute to tooling evolution.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or engineering degree in IT, Computer Science, Electronics or a related field.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in test automation or software testing.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• GitLab CI/CD or equivalent continuous integration tools.
• API testing and backend validation.
• Design and maintenance of automated test frameworks.
