Application Developer – Intelligent Traffic Systems

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Application Developer to join our Intelligent Traffic Systems team in Namur. The role focuses on integrating, optimizing and evolving software that manages public‑transport priority at traffic intersections, working closely with DevOps, infrastructure and external suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Support the integration of new traffic intersections and traffic‑light controllers.
• Analyze and integrate MAPEM files describing intersection topologies.
• Validate compliance with ETSI standards and ensure system interoperability.
• Configure and test communication between traffic‑management platforms, controllers and external systems.
• Design, maintain and optimise approach curves for public‑transport priority requests.
• Define arrival‑prediction parameters and improve intersection responsiveness.
• Develop and enhance business applications using Node.js.
• Improve user interfaces, workflows and configuration processes.
• Monitor system exchanges through RabbitMQ and Elasticsearch.
• Investigate and resolve production incidents.
• Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure teams and external suppliers.
• Maintain technical and functional documentation.
• Develop reporting solutions and performance dashboards to boost operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Expert knowledge of Node.js development.
• Strong experience with Git and modern development practices.
• Experience with DevOps environments, CI/CD pipelines and Docker.
• Knowledge of RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch and distributed systems.
• Understanding of traffic‑management or intelligent transportation systems is an asset.
• Ability to analyse complex technical environments and troubleshoot issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
