Android Developer – Build Cutting‑Edge Mobile Apps

About the role

Join Smile’s Brussels agency as an Android Developer and create high‑performance, user‑centric mobile applications for a leading open‑source integrator. You will work in a collaborative environment that values knowledge sharing and innovation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop native Android applications using Kotlin (and Java for legacy code).
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers, product owners, and backend teams to integrate RESTful APIs.
• Write automated unit and UI tests, conduct peer code reviews, and ensure code stability.
• Optimize performance, manage memory, and resolve bugs across diverse devices.
• Deploy and maintain apps on Google Play using CI/CD tools such as Bitrise and Fastlane.
• Stay up‑to‑date with Android ecosystem trends (Jetpack Compose, Kotlin Coroutines, new Google guidelines) and propose innovative solutions.

Required profile

• Degree in IT, software engineering or computer science.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in native Android development.
• Strong knowledge of Kotlin, Android SDK and modern development practices.
• Comfort with mobile architectures (MVVM, Clean Architecture, MVI) and Git version control.
• Good sense of UI/UX design, adhering to Material Design guidelines.
• Fluent English; French or Dutch is a plus for the Brussels context.
