American Citizen Services Assistant (Consular)

About the role

The U.S. Embassy in Brussels seeks an American Citizen Services (ACS) Assistant to support passport, citizenship, and special consular services for U.S. citizens within the consular district. This full‑time position serves as a primary point of contact for U.S. nationals, handling inquiries, emergencies, and routine case management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide passport, citizenship, and special consular assistance to U.S. citizens.
• Maintain a network of public and private contacts to aid citizens in distress.
• Communicate directly with citizenship applicants and distressed U.S. nationals.
• Prepare emergency messages and update the embassy website as needed.
• Handle administrative case files and ensure accurate record‑keeping.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of administrative, case‑management, or customer‑service experience.
• At least two years of post‑secondary education.
• Fluency in English and Dutch; good working knowledge of French.

Required skills

• Strong written and verbal communication in English, Dutch, and French.
• Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets).
• Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize urgent requests.
