Adaptive Demodulation for Real-Time Embedded Monitoring (Thesis Internship)

About the role

We are looking for a Master‑level student to undertake a thesis internship focused on low‑complexity adaptive demodulation for real‑time embedded condition monitoring of bearing faults. The work will be carried out on the COSAMIRA Edge platform within Televic’s rail‑industry R&D environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a state‑of‑the‑art review of carrier frequency selection methods such as kurtogram, Protrugram, Infogram and IESFOgram.
• Design and implement an automatic, adaptive carrier‑frequency selection algorithm suitable for embedded deployment.
• Ensure the solution is robust to speed variations and operational noise while maintaining a low computational and memory footprint.
• Develop clean, efficient C++ code that runs in real time on the target hardware.
• Validate the algorithm through experiments and benchmark its performance against existing solutions.

Required profile

• Enrolled in a Master’s programme in Electronics, Hardware, Embedded Software or a related field.
• Strong interest in signal‑processing and condition‑monitoring applications.
• Ability to work independently on research, implementation and experimental validation.

Required skills

• Proficiency in C++ programming.
• Experience with embedded software development and real‑time constraints.
• Knowledge of signal‑processing techniques for fault detection.

What we offer

• Opportunity to contribute to a cutting‑edge railway monitoring solution.
• Hands‑on experience with the COSAMIRA Edge platform and industrial‑grade hardware.
• Mentorship from senior engineers in a global rail‑technology company.
