Accountant (Freelance/Contract) – Brussels

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Accountant on a freelance/contract basis to join our client’s finance team in Brussels. The role starts immediately and runs until the end of January 2027, offering a hybrid work model with two days onsite and three days remote each week.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain vendor and customer master data.
• Process vendor invoices, credit notes and execute payments.
• Manage customer invoicing, cash application and dunning processes.
• Perform reconciliations for customer and vendor accounts, resolving discrepancies.
• Monitor open items, flag risks and communicate issues clearly.
• Handle daily bank statement bookings, bank position reporting and payment runs.
• Generate outbound invoices for multiple affiliates.
• Maintain and improve documentation of all covered processes.
• Support month‑end closing activities for sub‑ledger accounts.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring professional communication.

Required profile

• Strong administrative skills with high attention to detail.
• Analytical mindset focused on accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles (BGAAP) to perform daily operational tasks.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining financial information.
