Academic Position in Educational Policy and Governance

About the role

UCLouvain is seeking a full‑time academic to join the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Institute for the Analysis of Change in Contemporary and Historical Societies. The role involves teaching, research and community service in the field of educational policy and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Teach courses on political, institutional, cultural and social approaches to education, primarily in French, including evening and Saturday sessions.
• Supervise Master’s and PhD theses and contribute to curriculum development for the Master’s programmes in Educational Sciences and Teaching.
• Develop and lead research programmes on education policy design, governance, implementation and reception, and publish internationally.
• Participate in institutional service such as programme committees, examination boards and faculty management, and engage with societal partners.

Required profile

• PhD in Educational Sciences or an equivalent discipline.
• Proven university teaching record with formal evaluations and a strong publication record of international standing.
• Experience abroad or extended stay outside the awarding institution.
• Fluency in French (teaching language) and ability to communicate in English; commitment to achieve full bilingual proficiency within two years if not already.
• In‑depth knowledge of current issues and emerging trends in education policy and governance, with broad methodological expertise.
