Policy Officer – Security & Defence Partnerships (EU)

About the role

The European External Action Service (EEAS) is seeking a Policy Officer to support security and defence partnerships, with a focus on the Indo‑Pacific region. The role contributes to the EU’s Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) and broader foreign‑policy objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage EU security and defence cooperation with partners in the Indo‑Pacific region.
• Address horizontal issues related to EU peace, security and defence partnerships.
• Coordinate with EU Delegations, the European Commission, the Council and international organisations such as the UN and NATO.
• Prepare policy analyses, briefing notes and reports for senior officials.
• Support the High Representative in implementing the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP).

Required profile

• Successful completion of the CAST exam.
• Strong knowledge of EU foreign‑policy, security and defence matters.
• Experience working in a multilingual, multicultural environment.
• Ability to analyse complex policy issues and produce clear written outputs.
