Software Engineer – Peer-to-Peer (Remote)

About the role

Tether is looking for a passionate Software Engineer to join its P2P Search team. You will help build a next‑generation, fully decentralized search stack that runs without a central index, enabling anyone to launch a self‑organising search engine for text, images, chats, locations, and more.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement peer‑to‑peer search protocols and data structures.
• Develop and maintain Node.js services that power the decentralized search engine.
• Research and prototype distributed indexing techniques such as skip graphs and prefix hash trees.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate search capabilities into Tether’s broader product ecosystem.
• Ensure high performance, resilience, and security of the P2P network.

Required profile

• Strong interest in decentralized systems and peer‑to‑peer networking.
• Ability to move quickly from research concepts to production‑ready code.
• Excellent English communication skills and a collaborative remote‑work mindset.

Required skills

• Node.js development.
• Understanding of Kademlia DHT.
• Familiarity with distributed indexing concepts (skip graphs, prefix hash trees, m‑LIGHT, locality‑sensitive hashing).
• Experience with distributed databases and Conflict‑free Replicated Data Types (CRDTs).
• Networking knowledge for P2P (TCP/IP, transport‑layer connection orientation).
